I am fund raising so my brother can compete his adoption of his grandson who has Autism and bring the family back to NZ.
Auckland
For the past 3 years my brother Marc has lived with Malaria continuously and with typhoid a few times. The doctors have exhausted all options other than… leave the country! 12 years ago, he left NZ to work in Papua New Guinea with his family but the toll on his health means if he does not leave soon, I am worried he may never get home.
His loving family are ready to leave but they are in limbo as he and my sister-in-law are trying to adopt their grandson who has Autism. They have utilized all their available funds to pay for half the lawyers’ fees to start the adoption process. It is an expensive process that can’t be completed without the funds up front for the adoption and visas. His work contract finishes in April creating an ideal opportunity for them to complete all the paperwork to get back home.
My sister-in-law had to give up work to be the carer since my nephew was two when his behaviour was linked to the condition. There are zero facilities or resources in PNG for people with disabilities, especially with Autism. The older he gets he needs more educational support and social interaction which is not possible in PNG and not good for the future if my brother’s health continues to be affected by living there.
Adrian has a special bond with Mummy and Daddy (Marc) and he does not leave Daddy’s side when he returns from work. Marc has made a workshop where they both spend hours making timber playgrounds with rocking aero planes and themed car beds. My brother has found a new passion in his love of making ‘Special Kids’ happy as he has for his soon son (by adoption) and plans to use these skills back in NZ to help others in the same situation.
Please help me, so I can bring them home.
I am his sister and out of all my siblings (including step and half brothers and sisters) we have always had a close bond.
Lawyers and visa fee's.
The long awaited update. 6 June 2022
I know it has been some time since hearing from us but I am over the moon to announce that the adoption process has finally come to end and as of last Friday Adrian is now a Hay. It has been a long arduous journey with delays in the welfare office report but we finally made it through.
Now the next stage begins with Adrians passport and then the family visas, then finally home sweet home.
I would like to thank you all again for sticking by us and supporting us financially with this process which would have been extremely hard without your generosity.
