Trying to make one final family reunion possible for our dad and brother during their cancer journeys
Coromandel, Waikato
In December last year, our family’s world changed when my brother Todd was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer.
Today, we’ve received more heartbreaking news that our dad has now also been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.
Everything has happened so quickly, and we are still trying to process it.
One of Todd’s biggest wishes is to spend meaningful time with his whanau - His 5 kids, 5 Mokopuna, his brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and our parents. He lives in Australia, and although we hoped Dad could travel to see him, his recent diagnosis and age make that uncertain.
Despite this, Dad still has his heart set on seeing Todd.
We don’t yet know what will be possible medically, but we want to be ready for any opportunity—whether that means helping Dad travel to Australia, or bringing Todd here to New Zealand.
We are raising funds so that if that window opens, we can act immediately and make the journey as comfortable and supported as possible.
If you’re able to help in any way, we would be deeply grateful. However we respect that for many whanau, that won’t be possible, please know that sharing this means just as much to us.
If Todd or Dad are unable to travel, any funds raised will still be used to support them this may include medical related costs, travel & accomodation.
If there are surplus funds beyond what is needed, we will ensure they are used respectfully either to support ongoing care needs.
My Dad and Eldest Brother
Funds will be used for flights, medical travel support, and accommodation to help bring our dad and brother together. Any unused funds will go towards supporting their ongoing care needs.
