After a year of searching we have found a wonderful farm for sale, in a perfect location. It would serve us now and the generations to come.
Nationwide
To fulfill Stage Two of our exciting vision, we need to;
1. Move to a more suitable and permanent home
Currently, we lease 12 acres, but this land will not allow for our desired growth and expansion of our services. Geographically, we need to work within our target community and within acceptable travelling distance from schools Ngaruawahia, Taupiri and Huntly.
2. Add New Services
We have talked extensively to organisation’s and individuals who work with youth and vulnerable women in our chosen geographical area. Having vulnerable youth working with our horses is really a small part of a larger issue caused by dysfunctional families. Youth go home to the same environment, so we see the need for wrap-around services to help them AND their families to reframe their situations and provide some tools, hope and resources to assist in their lives. These would be added in over the next few years. Activities we anticipate over the course of a week are: Life Coaching, Adult Literacy Skills, Youth’s Literacy Skills, Equine Studies (accredited), Art Therapy, Parenting Workshops (for example, The Parenting Place), Resilience Skills. These would run throughout the week and some every few months. We already have professional individuals that could step into some of these roles and will be inviting other like-minded professionals to be involved as this unfolds.
3. Support what we do with additional services Empower for Women.
This is a six-day especially written for Hope Rising Farm for women who have been physically, emotionally, and/or mentally abused. We live in an area where domestic abuse is commonplace and have spoken to several agencies in our area that are keen and ready to send women. The need in our targeted area is enormous, and we anticipate many lives changed through this unique programme.
We run farm-based life skills and wellbeing programmes using horses as an empowering tool for building hauora. Participants learn horsemanship and farm skills as a way of building self confidence, leadership, communication skills, empathy and much more!
Funds would go towards land purchase, moving expenses, and infrastructure.
