Supporting the repatriation of Rusiru to his family in Sri Lanka following his unexpected passing in New Zealand.

Our dear friend Rusiru has tragically passed away while studying in New Zealand. His family in Sri Lanka wishes to have their beloved son returned home for final ceremonies and burial in his homeland. As his friends far from home, we're coming together to help his family through this difficult time. Any contribution, large or small, will support the repatriation costs and help his family bring closure during this heartbreaking loss. Your kindness would mean the world to Rusiru's loved ones and our community.

I am Rusiru's close friend and university colleague, and I am coordinating this for everyone especially in New Zealand, who have been requesting a medium to support his family.
Use of funds
The funds will cover costs associated with repatriating Rusiru to Sri Lanka. Any surplus funds will be given directly to Rusiru's father (Hettimullage Chithrasena), who has lost his only child.

Donation Update - Funds Successfully Transferred 20 June 2025
Dear Friends,
While some personal matters delayed me from this update, I'm pleased to share that your generous donations have reached Rusiru's family in Sri Lanka.
Total raised: 12,660 NZD
The amount received: 12,055 NZD (after the Give A Little commission)
Equivalent: ~2,151,675 LKR
The full amount has been successfully transferred to Rusiru's father's bank account. While there was the standard processing delay, I'm happy to confirm every dollar has reached the family.
Rusiru's parents are deeply grateful for your support during this difficult time. Your kindness has provided meaningful help with funeral arrangements and brought them great comfort knowing so many people care.
