Being XXY is not rare; however, it is rarely diagnosed. Help us get together.
Nationwide
47,XXY is the most common chromosome karyotype after XY & XX. Sex chromosome aneuploidy happens somewhat randomly as part of the general human condition, although XY & XX are more common, being 47,XXY isn't abnormal. Being XXY is not rare; however, it is rarely diagnosed.
Our NZ group is aware of less than 100 XXY men and boys around the country, and we would like to get together to share experiences and support each other through the creation of a charity. Parents attending local meetups can usually learn from the experiences of the adult men, and the men generally discuss anything from general life to testosterone replacement treatments and what is working for them.
I am a trustee of NZ XXY
We have a few men and parents of XXY'ers, not in the main cities where our meetups are usually held, and we'd love your support to fund travel and accommodation for a few people.
Thank you 22 June 2022
We are very thankful for the funds that have been raised to date. We've managed to share some of the funds to help people travel to the two meeting centres (Auckland & Christchurch).
A venue in Auckland has been booked for a shared lunch, while a meal out at a restaurant was decided as the best option for those in the South Island – as some are travelling from as far away as Invercargill.
We've also had a donation that has been given with the intention of helping to set up a charity.
Outside of the Givealittle donation, we've received funds from XXY'ers, their friends and family directly to our bank account for which we are very grateful. Thank you.
