Auckland
Scott, Eia and Xavier recently received the sad news that Caleb (6 months old) has a tumour on his liver, and will need to undergo surgery and chemotherapy to treat it. The overall prognosis is good but the family faces a tough few months ahead.
Caleb’s surgery and treatment will take place in Christchurch as this is where the specialist team is located, and the family will be based at Ronald McDonald house.
Scott and Eia are faced with the cost of Scott’s travel back and forward to Wellington as he juggles work and care for Xavier, and the day to day costs of a busy family. Eia is still on maternity leave and will not be able to return to work until Caleb is back to full health.
Our family has set up this page on Scott and Eia’s behalf for those who wish to help in a practical way, to contribute financially towards Caleb’s road to recovery.
Caleb has had a tough first six months of life but is a little fighter, let’s help him kick cancer!
I am Sister to Scott and Eia and Aunty to Caleb and Xavier. I have set this page up on behalf of our familes.
Update 3: 2nd cycle of chemo treatment 8 August 2015
Thank you all for your generosity and prayers for Caleb. We are stronger as a family because of all the support, love and prayers you gave us.
We are happy to update that Caleb's second cycle of chemotherapy is going really well but we are told by the doctors that it may still be early for the side effects to be seen but nevertheless we are happy to see him well during his treatment. We are on the last night of his hydration and we might be sent home to Wellington for few days (yay!) but are likely to be in between hospital appointments still for blood tests and medical reviews as well. The most important meeting is with his EENT due to some unsuccessful hearing tests due to fluid in his middle ear that needs to be checked. He has been snotty and blocked the whole time we are here for his treatment so that needs to be sorted before the next cycle.
Our family (Walker and Caronongan) are grateful for the help you extended for us in these trying times. Prayers has been offered as well which makes this journey easier to handle as he is looked after well by the Healing Angels. No complications and infections is what we wanted and so far he has been kicking those away from him. Our happy boy is strong and a fighter.
Have a blessed weekend everyone!
Love
Caleb Johann Walker
and the family
