Become a sponsor of Carlin Leong Racing's rebuild story, everyone who contributes will have their name included on the car
Te Kowhai, Waikato
It has always been my dream to compete in rallying. I spent 3 years building my dream rally car, and this season was my first and was going well until last Sunday, when I made a mistake and had a big crash. The crash caused a lot of panel damage, and sitting in the rising water for 5 hours means most of the electrical components will need to be replaced.
Without outside help, it will be another few years before I manage to fix the car, it is quite a mess. Dale Perry has come on board and says he can repair it for a very reasonable cost. If you would like to contribute and be part of the journey, every bit helps. Everyone who donates will have their name included on the livery of the rebuilt car.
I have learnt some big lessons from this crash but don't intend to make a habit out of it. Its a mountain of work to get back in the seat, but we are keen to get it done and put these lessons to use. We are aiming to have the car ready for Rally Bay of Plenty in October.
Straightening chassis, replacing all panels, paint, replacement parts, wiring and electrical components.
Rebuild update 12 August 2024
Hi everyone,
Thanks to your generosity, we now have a straight, freshly painted Subaru rally car. It was a pretty special moment rolling it out of the shed looking so good. While there is still work to be done, we are well on target for a return at Rally Bay of Plenty. None of this would be possible without all of you!
Cheers, Carlin
