Chloe’s journey to better health — raising funds for bariatric surgery, a tool for lasting change, not vanity.
Picton, Marlborough
Hi, I’m Chloe — a 33-year-old mum of five from New Zealand.
All my adult life, I’ve battled with my weight and the health struggles that come with it. I’ve tried countless diets, exercise routines, and lifestyle changes, medicines from the doctor but nothing has given me the long-term results I need to truly thrive. Currently I walk and go to the gym 4-5 times a week and try to eat in a calorie deficit.
I’ve been referred by doctor for bariatric surgery three times but due to no capacity at hospital and not having diabetes it’s never been accepted by the hospital. (I’ve attached letter from doctor, sleep apnea tests results and rejection letter from hospital in images) Sleep apnea, painful varicose veins, unable to stand for long periods of time, aching joints are among some of the health struggles.
After years of research and reflection, I’ve decided that bariatric surgery is the best next step for me — not as a quick fix or magic pill, but as a tool to help me regain control of my health. This isn’t about vanity or appearance — it’s about being able to keep up with my kids, improve my wellbeing, and have a longer, healthier future with my family.
Unfortunately, the cost of surgery, medical care, and recovery expenses is far beyond what I can manage alone. That’s why I’m reaching out for support.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to living the healthy, active life I’ve been working toward for years. Thank you so much for your kindness and encouragement. 💙
Funds will cover unfunded bariatric surgery, unfunded before and after medical tests, unfunded nutritionist, travel, and unfunded recovery costs such as recovery medication and compression socks. If the goal isn’t reached, all donations will go toward the unfunded medical expenses.
