Help give Christina life-changing treatment.
Woodville, Manawatu-Wanganui
Our family has had a hard run over the past few years. In 2020, Dad (Peter) was diagnosed with mouth cancer. While Dad has thankfully come through his treatment and is now cancer-free, in 2021 Mum (Christina) was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
While multiple myeloma is treatable, it is not curable. Mum has spent the last five years undergoing various treatments. She started with chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant, which put her into remission. Unfortunately, that remission only lasted 18 months, leading to multiple rounds of radiation and several rounds of chemotherapy.
At the start of this year, Mum was told she was running out of publicly funded treatment options. She is currently under private care, receiving further chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
To give Mum the best chance of a long remission, she now requires CAR-T therapy. CAR-T therapy is considered standard care in many other countries, but unfortunately it is not currently available in New Zealand. She will need to travel to China for treatment, with the total cost estimated at around $300,000 NZD.
Any support, no matter how big or small, will help give Mum the opportunity to access this potentially life-changing treatment. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing our story would mean the world to our family. Anything to help give us more time with our Mum & Dad more time with his high-school sweetheart.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
I am Christina’s daughter
Any costs related to CAR-T treatment (the treatment itself, travel costs, possibly accommodation).
