I would be forever grateful if my beautiful Cora could receive her urgent Cruciate Ligament repair surgery.
Otago
This is Cora. She is my beautiful, zany, loving furbaby who needs help. I know I may be biased, but I do truly believe she is the BEST DOG EVER!
I rescued Cora three years ago as a 9 week malnourished unwell pup and every single day since then she has thanked me with unconditional love and taught me that every day is one to be woken up to with joy.
However, the last month for Cora has been awful. She was outside doing her usual morning zoomies when she came inside lame on her back left leg.
I rushed her to the vet who, after x-rays etc, confirmed she has a ruptured cruciate ligament and needs urgent surgery to repair this.
I was in complete shock and felt when sick to my stomach as I knew that I simply could not afford the $2500 quoted for this operation and that my pet insurance does not cover this surgery.
I am extremely hesitant to ask for help as have always prided myself on being capable of overcoming any obstacle independently.
However, due to an accident late 2019, I am now awaiting my second back surgery in 6months, and in turn have lost my job.
To date I have spent $843 on xrays, anti inflammatories, joint supplements, + three weekly laser treatments to ease Cora's pain and give her some quality of life. Suffice to say I have exhausted any and all avenues with my small means to help my precious girl. All to have her in the same boat to begin with, unable to walk/run/play and still in pain.
I have now run out of money, so am asking for help as after 3 years of being such a good girl, Cora deserves me putting myself out there despite my reservations in doing so.
Cora's surgery has been quoted at $2,500.
Any surplus would be donated to the rescue foundation 'Furever Homes', to assist them in the amazing work they do for deserving animals just like Cora.
Cora has a new knee!! 😀😀 21 April 2021
Hi all
Just thought I'd post an update to let you all know that Cora FINALLY had her knee surgery yesterday.
The vet was very happy with how it went. He explained he really couldn't find any of her cruciate ligament which means it had ruptured to the point of disintegrating.
He also examined her meniscus as he had been concerned there may be additional damage there, but the great news is it was all in tact and looking healthy.
Cora stayed in overnight as she was not stable so that was extremely hard, but thankfully we picked her up first thing this morning, so our lil family is complete again!
She has been very dopey and sensitive today which is to be expected. She has a fentanyl patch so is getting good pain relief.
We have a crate and a pen for her to keep her super contained. She's not impressed but needs must, and as it's her home for the next 6 weeks, we've tried our best to make it as cosy as poss.
I felt surprisingly ok yesterday while she was at the vet. The over riding feeling I had all day was just gratitude. I just felt so lucky that people were so kind and generous that it could actually happen. It was a very humbling day.
Thank you so so much.
I genuinely promise to do every single thing I can during Çora's strict recovery period to ensure this is a super success. I can't wait to take her for a walk, to the park, and see her free to run to her hearts content!
Thanks again. ❤️❤️🐾
P.s..if anyone wants to see pics/vids of her today or her progress pls pm me on Facebook. I don't know how to add them on here 🤣
