Help Des Through Her Lung Transplant Journey

Over the past two years, Des’ lung condition has declined significantly. Everyday tasks now leave her exhausted, limiting her world and keeping her from doing the things she loves.

Des has lived with bronchiectasis her whole life and despite the challenges, she has always pushed forward. She completed her Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) while working full time, a reflection of her strength and determination.

After ongoing specialist care and a run of unexpected illnesses, Des is now on the waiting list for a double lung transplant. This surgery will give her the chance to breathe easier, regain her independence and return to the life she loves.

While this transplant is life-changing, it also comes with significant costs including travel, recovery and time away from work.

Des has carried this journey quietly for years without wanting to burden others, but her ilness has left her deeply limited both physically and mentally.
