Raising funds to take a support person with me when I travel overseas for top surgery.
Nationwide
For the past few years, I have been working towards a goal that is deeply important to me: accessing gender-affirming top surgery. After a great deal of planning and frugal living, I have successfully saved enough to cover my surgery, flights, and accommodation overseas.
Given my age and the nature of the procedure, I now realise having a trusted support person with me would provide practical help, emotional support, and peace of mind during recovery.
I am raising funds to help cover the costs of taking someone with me. I am hoping to raise NZD$2,000 through this campaign.
I will never forget the feeling of elation I experienced when I first tried on a chest binder five years ago and looked at myself in the mirror. My beautifully flat chest. It is difficult to put into words the overwhelming sense of recognition and relief I felt in that moment. It was as if something inside me suddenly clicked into place: "Ah HAH! NOW my outside matches my inside!"
I saw myself reflected accurately for the first time. Having top surgery will give me the opportunity to live in an aligned body every day, not just when I am wearing a binder.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will help make it possible for me to travel with the support I need during this significant milestone. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and networks would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey.
