Doreen has been accepted into nursing school! Join us in funding her tuition so she can begin her course in late April. 🇺🇬

To celebrate and support Doreen’s nursing and midwifery training, my friends and I are completing a 65km relay walk across Singapore on Saturday, 11 April. Our goal is to raise $6,500 SGD ($8,600 NZD) - matching every $100 raised with 1km of our journey. These funds will directly cover Doreen’s tuition, clinical needs, and housing for her upcoming two year course.
Re Currency: Donations are in NZD. For my Singapore-based community, $40 NZD is approx $30 SGD.
Doreen’s Journey to Nursing:
In 2019, 178 of you generously donated to support Grace Daycare and Orphanage School (Grace) in Uganda. Through Girl Child Health Initiative (GCHI), your support helped provide the facilities needed to improve the health and wellbeing of the children.
While volunteering at Grace, I met a young girl named Doreen - a dedicated Primary 5 student whose leadership and care for her peers stood out at Grace. Born in Northern Uganda, a region deeply affected by war, Doreen navigated significant challenges to pursue her education. Under the mentorship of 'Madame Liz' (Head of Grace) and with the support of GCHI, Doreen has graduated high school - and has been accepted into St Francis Nsambya Hospital Training School in Kampala to study nursing and midwifery. Doreen hopes to become a nurse so she can provide essential medical care that she and her family once struggled to access.
All funds raised will be sent directly to GCHI to support Doreen’s education.
I met Doreen while volunteering at Grace Daycare and Orphanage School in 2019 and have since had the privilege of partnering with the Girl Child Health Initiative to support her educational journey.
Funds raised will go towards Doreen's course fees, housing and requirements.
