Kitten needs surgery to remove an eye and get further testing to make sure it won't also occur to her remaining eye.
Bay of Plenty
My name is Bernard and I am doing this to help my friend Elisa with one of her cats, Kitten.
Mystery Marie mostly known as Kitten is almost 11 years old. Elisa adopted her when she instantly fell in love after seeing her in a cage at the front of a vet clinic with a sign asking “are you my mother?”. She was tiny with a tiny little face but had a big round belly, long gangly legs and huge ears. They said she would grow into her belly and that it wasn’t anything wrong with it. They bonded straight away and Kitten fit into the family perfectly with her new big sisters Minnie and Poopies.
Elisa quickly noticed there was something a little different with Kitten and figured out that she was blind in one eye as well as having a few deformities and was a little mentally challenged which made her such a character. All of these were a result of either being abused at a week or so old or something happened when she was in her mommas belly. She has gotten along well in life with vision in just one eye other than it making it her a little more clumsy. But now something is happening in the back of her eyeball that is causing it to lose pressure and the shape has changed which is causing her eyelid to change shape with it and her lower eyelashes are now sticking into her eye and scraping along it causing discomfort.
She needs to have this eye out but at a big cost and her good eye is slowly but surely going blind with a cataract but we hope she has another ten years of eyesight in that one. The huge cost is for the eye removal but also a lot of tests to see what is causing it to happen to make sure it’s not something that will cause the same problem in the other eye or something more malicious.
This has been an incredibly hard year for Elisa and her family, her worst year to date with multiple family deaths, family member health problems, being assaulted and having to live near the man who did it while authorities are working on the case, having cars break down as well as other financial problems brought on by life.
Elisa has had a weekly automatic payment going to her vet for over 11 years now so she is a prepared and responsible owner but life happenings have meant that in this instance she doesn’t have the funds to get it done. The fact this is happening right on Christmas time and her sons birthday is coming up just before Christmas day doesn’t help the stress either.
Her three cats are her babies as much as her two human ones and her cats literally saved her life many times when she was going through hard times when she was younger so she will do anything for them. She would be forever grateful for any donations to help Kitten have her health back on track.
Funds will be used to have Kitten's bad eye removed, pay for tests and for her ongoing health care. Ideally we would like her to have the procedure as soon as possible so that her quality of life can be restored but I am hopeful we can have it all funded by February 2021.
I just want to thank the anonymous donors here instead of on their donations out of fear it might accidentally reveal your details. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
I am their friend of over a decade and wish to help them in these difficult times
Money will be spent on the surgery for Kitten and her ongoing care, excess funds and in the event of Kitten's passing, funds will be split as evenly as possible and donated to Wild Whiskers and Rescue Revive Rehome in Tauranga.
Kitten is doing well 22 December 2020
She had her stitches removed today and is healing well at home with Elisa, who has also managed to pay most of the bill for Kitten's surgery with the money released by GiveALittle this month, when the outstanding balance is paid out next month then the bill will be paid in full and the remaining money will be donated to the charities that Elisa nominated.
