Ellen and Philippe seek help to stay in NZ after facing health, financial, and immigration challenges following the birth of their baby.
Auckland
In 2022, Ellen and Philippe moved to New Zealand, full of hope for a new life. However, their journey took an unexpected turn. Ellen was diagnosed with severe endometriosis, leading doctors to warn them of infertility. Despite this, they received a miracle: Ellen became pregnant with twin girls. Unfortunately, one of the babies was lost due to complications of an emergency surgery while the babies were still in the womb as they were diagnosed with Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). Against all odds, their surviving daughter, Georgia, was born at just 28 weeks and has been fighting for her life in the NICU for over 60 days.
Amid this emotional rollercoaster, the family faced financial hardships. The company Ellen worked for went bankrupt, and due to changes in immigration laws, Philippe lost his partner’s visa rights. To stay in New Zealand and provide essential medical care for Georgia—who will need specialised follow-up until she turns 4—Philippe needs to secure a job or pursue a master's degree which costs $26-40k. Phillipe is a civil engineer and he is also trying to find a job so he can apply for a work visa.
They are asking for help to stay in New Zealand, find a job for Philippe, or raise funds to cover the cost of his education and living expenses. Any support or job referrals would be a lifesaver for this brave family.
I have been working as their interpreter during the whole process. I am also the Honorary Consul of Brazil in Auckland
Master's degree so he can apply for a visa and be able to work in New Zealand or use it to cover the expenses of a residency process if they manage to find a job opportunity, or as a last resort, funds will be used to get them re-established back in Brazil.
