Emily needs support to fund her university tuition. As an American she isn't eligible for a student loan and cannot continue her studies.
Canterbury
Emily is a vibrant happy go lucky girl from America. She moved to New Zealand 3 years ago to work here and eventually live and study. Currently she is studying a Bachelor of Speech and Language Pathology at University of Canterbury in her 1st year. Any NZ citizen has a right to a student loan and majority of students need to take one out because they don't have the money to outright pay for their education. Emily doesn't have that luxury. Since she is not a NZ citizen the only other way for her to have access to a student loan is if she's had a resident visa for 3 years but the tricky and slow process of obtaining a resident visa meant she only received one in September of 2020.
Emily works 4 jobs and still struggles to save any money after her expenses. She is due to pay the fees for the second semester but doesn't have the money and is having to drop out of the degree of her dreams. Emily is doing well in her studies but the university can't provide her any funds to go towards her tuition and she's all out of options. Any donations are generous, but we want Emily to continue to study. If she can't complete the full year then she won't be accepted into the 2nd year.
Thank you for your support in Emily's future education.
Emily is my friend that I met through university. She is a dutiful student who deserves this opportunity.
