Help Erina get to London for LIYSF!
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
I’m a year 13 student who is proud to have been selected for the LIYSF 24’!
LIYSF is a forum that connects 500 young science-lovers around the world. Students are granted with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend lectures by world-leading scientists and watch presentations from Nobel prize winners.
I was drawn to science five years ago when I entered my first Science and Technology Fair. In year seven I created the "unforgettabox" – a motion sensor device that helped my grandma remember items she would forget on the way outside. The ribbon my project received drove me to help others the same way.
My recent involvement in the National Rotary Science and Technology Forum has opened my eyes to the world of STEM. I love to tinker and create. A two-week immersion among other students that share my passion has left me with a greater hunger to learn more about the multifarious possibilities of my future. Attending the London International Science Youth Forum would be integral to help me pursue a successful career with confidence.
What I do for the community:
Over the course of 2023 I devoted a lot of my time into UN Youth, and directed the first Bay of Plenty Model United Nations. I plan to continue my mahi with this, and have now achieved 503 hours of volunteering. I would appreciate any donations to help me attend LIYSF!
Program cost: 6,395 NZD - including 14 nights’ accommodation in South Kensington, central London
Travel to scheduled events within the program
Other Costs: Flights/travel to/from London to attend the program ($2,400-2,800) Travel Insurance
If I do not raise enough to go this year, funds will be kept aside for me to attend next year so I have more time to save.
Every little bit counts! 19 February 2024
My goal may seem big, but I am trying to follow up every possible avenue I can to support me!
