Hi All, I've been selected to represent New Zealand at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Japan later this year.
Otago
Heyo!
My name is Eva Hofmans and I have recently been selected to compete at the Junior World Rowing Championships in August 2019. I will be repping the Silver Fern for New Zealand in the Junior Women's Quad.
As of June 2nd, I will be relocating to Cambridge and training on Lake Karapiro until our team flies to Tokyo, Japan on the 26th of July. I've been privileged enough to have had my awesome Coach, John Parnell, all to myself for the past few years, and think that rowing as part of an amazing crew is going to be a big change from my normal routine - training alone on the little Otago Harbour every morning.
After two and a half years of rowing, I am so stoked that I am only a few months away from representing our Country for my first time on the International Stage! This has been a major goal of mine since little Eva signed up for rowing in October 2016. Despite my wonderfully terrible results as a novice during my first season of rowing, John and I pushed through and I am finally achieving another of my goals.
I have slowly ticked goals off my list over the past year, the first to actually get a medal, which I got when winning the Women's Intermediate double Sculls at the South Island Champs in February last year. My biggest goal (second to the goal of being a part of the Junior Team) was to add a Maadi Medal to my collection. After three seasons, two Maadis (NZ Secondary School Rowing Champs), and a total of three events entered in over the years, I finally achieved this goal on the 30th of March this year, placing second in the Girls' Under 18 Single Sculls.
The honor and pride that I feel in being able to represent my School, with its small handful of Rowers, is incredible! I am also so incredibly proud to represent my Club, Dunedin, the Otago region, and of course, to wear the Silver fern with pride while representing New Zealand.
I am here now, with the opportunity to represent our Country's Fern, asking for any kind donations to help fund me on this journey. I am so incredibly thankful for all the support that my Parents, Family, Club and School have given me, but now I ask that you help me make it to Japan later this year. My goal through this funding is $7000, any little bit will be greatly appreciated and will help out my Mum and I very much.
Thank you so much,
Eva :-)
The donations gathered will go towards the costs of living and training in beautiful Cambridge. They will also support me in flying to and staying in, stinking hot Japan (35°)! Finally, they will cover the cost of competing at the World Championships.
Thank you all so much <3
Thank you Susan! Will have Oma (Robyn) keep you updated!
