Karma Kitchen Meals on Wheels - providing free meals to Balinese families due to Covid
Auckland
For those that have loved Bali, enjoyed holidaying here and the people of this magical island, they are in desperate need of your help. As 70% of Bali's economy comes from Tourism - the covid virus has bought Bali to its knees. With no tourists - there is mass unemployment and businesses shutting their doors all over the island. As this is the third world there is no financial support available and now so many families who simply cannot put food on the table. Can you imagine being in a place where you couldn't feed your kids or yourself?
We are preparing ourselves that this could last 4 – 6 months and that is just devastating for the people of our beloved Bali. As suspected, the prospect of finding any work on an island that is centred around tourism is now non-existent. Most food and basic supplies have started to run short as they are imported and there are no pricing restrictions when that food becomes available.
Our first priority is to ensure that families in our area of Canggu where we have lived and prospered in over the past 10 years are looked after food wise, over the coming months. Along with our staff, we are currently doing a weekend Karma Kitchen every Saturday and Sunday but would love to expand this to include every day of the week and our aim is to feed in excess of 1,000 families.
Here's where you can help... every bit counts and together we can make a real impact on so many Indonesians families lives. Please feel free to donate what you are able. US$15 feeds a family nutritious lunches for an entire week. US$30 covers all meals for the week.
Thanks for your contribution to Bali.

I live in a third world community in Bali. They are my neighbours and my community and have lost all their income due to Covid.
Funds are solely used for the ingredients to make meals No funding is used for wages, time or resources to make the meals. All funds go directly in the form of meals to those in need in the Canggu community
Extended expiry time of fundraising campaign 20 May 2020
As Covid continues we need more time to continue our efforts to feed the community. Those slipping below the poverty line now are increasing greatly as the amount of time they have been unemployed grows. We will be extending the fundraising date for another two months to allow us to generate more funds to help those who desperately need our help.
