This page has been created to help facilitate some financial support for Finn and his recovery from his scooter accident in Bali, Indonesia.

Nationwide

On Monday August 28th 2023 Finn was hit by an over-taking truck while on a scooter in Bali, Indonesia.

Finn is going to be ok but he has sustained badly broken ribs and a punctured / deflated lung (amongst other more minor injuries). He is now in the ICU at the Bali International Medical Centre in Kuta.

Because of the risks related to air pressure and lung damage he cannot fly home and must do most of his treatment and healing in the Bali International Medical Centre. This means from date of injury his time to get back on a plane home will be about 3 weeks.

As you'd imagine costs accumulate pretty rapidly particularly with such a long time before he can head home. Fortunately his insurance will cover most of the costs of his treatment and recovery.

Cover includes costs related to his treatment and travel while also has some provisions for a support person to be there with him which the doctors have recommended.

Finns brother Josh has stayed on in Bali to support him.

While overall costs and losses might be around 50K, we believe the insurance cover will leave us with up to 10K of costs and losses.

Finn and his family are hoping to put this out there to see if anyone is prepared to support with some of the financials not covered by insurance and would be grateful for any small koha.

Josh Cox's involvement (page creator)

Josh Cox is the brother of Finn Cox and is remaining in Bali with Finn for the duration of his recovery (approx' 2 weeks)

Use of funds

The money will be spent on costs and/or losses related to Finns accident that are not covered by insurance.

Big Thanks - Finn Discharged and Flight Home Booked  14 September 2023

Hey Everyone, we wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone for their support here and give you a quick update on Finn's current status.

Over the last week Finn has made some massive improvements in his recovery. The internal bleeding in his lungs has stopped and so the chest drain/tube was able to be taken out. This meant further improvements all round and he was able to be discharged from the International Hospital in Kuta Bali.

Finn's improvements have meant that the doctors agreed that he no longer needed a support person with him so I (Josh) headed back to NZ end of last week.

Due to the lung injury Finn has needed to stay in Bali until he is cleared fit to fly, so Finn is now pitched up at a hotel and awaits a flight that is booked for him this Sunday Sept 17th (landing in NZ Monday morning).

We're all super relieved that something that could have been a lot worse in many ways is now mostly over and most importantly Finn's recovery is continuing to look really positive and he'll be home real soon.

We're super grateful for all of the love and support we've received from all the friends n family around the globe. And the money raised so far is going to go a long way to minimising the costs incurred from all this, so thank so much !!

(Note: photo below is a slightly beat up but upbeat Finn (36 hours after being discharged), with Josh a couple hours before Josh flew home.)
