Finn has been selected to represent NZ at the Archery Youth World Championships in Madrid. This fundraising project is to get Finn to Spain.
Auckland
Finn Matheson is 16 and a young New Zealand archer. He's been shooting for four years and his ability and hard work has seen him selected this year as a member of the Archery New Zealand Senior Men's team to compete at the Hyundai World Cup events in Shanghai, China and Antalya, Turkey in May, 2019. He has also been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Archery Youth World Championships in Madrid, Spain and that's the purpose of this fundraising project - to get Finn to Spain. The other events have been parent funded but the well is dry :-)
Finn is a New Zealand national champion and record holder and current International Indoor Field Archery Association (IFAA) World Champion. In 2019 he has led his school team to win the College Sport Archery A Division title and himself won the gold medal for match play. In the recent North Island Open Championships he won two silvers and a gold shooting in the Senior Men's Division.
The photograph is of Finn at the 2019 World Archery Hyundai World Cup 3 event in Antalya Turkey with World Champion Brady Ellison in the background preparing to shoot on the next target - people kept saying get a pic with Brady Ellison ... so here it is.
Your support with this project will be much appreciated.
I'm Finn's parent and the assistant manager of the NZ team he will represent.

Nine Days to Go 6 August 2019
In 9 days Finn heads off from the middle of a bitterly cold Kiwi winter to 35+ degrees in Madrid, Spain. I’m writing this from the ice box that is the wonderful Mountain Green Archery Club Indoor Range which has been a godsend these last few weeks. Finn’s been shooting around 1500 arrows a week in preparation for the Youth World Championships as often as possible outdoors at 60m but that’s been a bit of a challenge with short days and bad weather. However, he seems to be peaking as planned and can’t wait to get on the Qatar Airlines plane to Oman and then Madrid. Your help has been brilliant. You’ve given him his airfare and that’s the most important step. He’s grateful. We’re grateful, and it’s bigs hugs to you all. To those who’ve made this possible by your contributions and by sharing this message, I owe you big time. If you’re now in a position to help there’s still time. This page remains open until the end of August. The pic is from Outdoor training last Sunday. Eight hours in the air thrashing that gold. I’ll make sure I keep the updates coming - and thanks again.
