Help 8 year old Flynn and his family fight his cancer for the second time.
Waitara, Taranaki
Please help Flynn, my 8 year old brave wee nephew and his family as they fight his cancer yet again.
Last year Flynn was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. He underwent chemotherapy and had shoulder arthrodesis surgery replacing his humerus and fusing his shoulder together.
After the surgery pathology results showed the tumour had grown and the cancer was only 30% necrosis (death of the tumour) typical results they would like to see at time of removal is tumour has shrunk and 90% necrosis. This meant he needed to change chemotherapy regimes to try beat it. Doing this meant that it would be his lifetime of chemotherapy so in the future chemo would not be an option.
After eight months since chemo has finished and 16 months in a sling Flynn finally got the exciting news that his arm can come out of a sling! However the next day the devastating news has now come in that the cancer is back and is on his lungs. The only option is for surgical removal and hoping for the best. Then continuing removal for as long as that is possible.
Last year with Brock working so hard and Tegan out of work to support Flynn through his hospital stays, the only help came from family.
This family would be the first to help anyone else’s family but now their family need help relieving them of any financial pressure which will make a tremendous difference to them as they navigate this heartbreaking and uncertain road.
All donations big or small will help this family, we are so grateful for your help
All funds raised will go to help this family through the incredibly tough road that is ahead of them and any extra expenses they may incur along the way.
Flynn is my nephew
An update from Brock & Tegan❤️🩹 16 October 2023
The children have had a busy holidays enjoying every minute of being surrounded by their family. They’ve enjoyed every moment they can with their cousin including making the most of sleepovers, being around her horse and learning what to do.
Medically the scans show nothing has returned on the left lung since the surgery, and the right lung remains to have the small nodules but they have not grown any bigger so nothing yet happens. Flynn has another appointment this Wednesday just to meet the team and get to know the hospital area.
One thing Flynn has always wanted to try is be on tv, and it’s now happening. Sara nominated Wendy from the Pink Limo for good sorts as she offers so much for people going through tough times, and coincidentally when Hayden Jones was in Christchurch Wendy was due to pick Flynn and everyone up for a ride in her convertible so him, Layla and Anna will get to feature on the good sorts show alongside Wendy doing her amazing things!
