Help For My Mother

My mother Jaishree was admitted in North shore cardiology ward on 25th Aug 2021.

Doctors have performed various tests, X ray, echo scans, and angiography so far and according to them she has had a heart attack a few days back which went un-noticed which developed water retention in her lungs and surrounding area resulting her heart was not functioning normal. They also found that one of the arteries is blocked and the attack has created a hole in a heart through which the blood is passing from one part of the heart to another. We have been advised by doctor that my mom will need to undergo an open-heart surgery as soon as possible.

Her situation was very critical and that time doctors said that she will not survive due to this condition. Doctors kept her under observation. According to doctors since her heart wound was fresh, they were unable to do surgery immediately and the decision was made by panel of doctors that they will monitor her for a week period and then will decide about the surgery.

Looking at her critical condition, doctors said that it will be vey risky to do an open-heart surgery on her and for a safer side decided to do VSD closer surgery through percutaneous procedure to save her.

She was moved to Auckland hospital as this VSD closer surgery was not possible at North shore hospital.

Auckland doctors’ team was also told that as per her condition and her age this surgery was very risky but fortunately the surgery was life saving.

Due to this heart attack, part of her heart is dead and is very weak. This surgery and all medications are also affecting her kidney and other organs which are currently behaving low. She was again admitted in North shore hospital on 29th Sept 2021 due to deranged liver function. She might need further surgery to come out of this. Currently doctors are monitoring her. There is a long road to her full recovery and she need lot of care and support during this period.

My mother arrived in New Zealand on a visitor visa. Due to COVID restrictions, she was unable to return home back to India. Her treatment is not subsidized, this will put us under huge hospital expenses, and we cannot afford this financially and emotionally.

We are requesting everyone for financial help as much as possible and help our mother. your support means a lot to us even if it is a small amount. Helping one person might not change the whole world but it could change the world for the one person.

All donations will be used to cover the cost of my mother's heart surgery and any surplus will go to North shore and Auckland hospital as the cardiology department helped my mom to save her life and for their continuous support.
