Help for Ukrainians

  • Help for Ukrainian December 2022

      16 December 2022

This is the moment to say thank you very much for all your generosity and support , I was feeling devastated by the horrible le war and at the same time very humbled by response to my plead. I visited Poland in August/September and what was really striking and positive is the presence of Ukrainian people (mostly women and children) in every Polish city and town. Using the local transport I could hear as much Ukrainian language as much as Polish. They found accomodations and jobs and children went to schools. My friends became involved in helping 16 children who came to Poznan only couple of months after the war started. Initially, they help to organise for kids the picnic with really cool attractions and since then they simply help buying everyday items, prepared them to go to school back in September and now buying winter cloths. Every single dollar from the Givealittle page went directly to help people from Ukraine. The page is now closed but I continue to support my friends since the war is not going to finish any time soon and winter in Ukraine without power will cause as many casualties and the bombs

last week Ania and Rafal were asked to help to organise picnic for 16 kids. They worked all day preparing delicious waffles with whipped cream and hot dogs. Kids were initially shy but after small encouragement couldn't stop queueing for the next helping! 70 waffles and 70 hot dogs were eaten! The children had absolutely stunning day .

  • Ongoing support for the people who were lucky enough to escape alive from Ukraine.

After the first money transfer a week ago (5000 NZ doll) Rafal and Ania started to deliver hot meals at the Poznan train station on Monday mornings. Yesterday was the second week. It was really cold morning so the hot dogs were so needed!

As we watch the horrors of the war on News I just want to remind mostly myself that all I can do is to focus on the only positive outcome of the war- support most amazing people with huge hearts who despite busy lives and works -spend time, energy and money to help others. And thank you to all friends in NZ for your donations....

So kind of your friends to put out NZ flag. Let's keep the money flowing, and the flag flying...

  • Delivering food for the Ukrainian refugees at the train station

Since there are hundreds (around 500 a day) Ukrainian refugees arriving by train to my city Poznan every day, Rafal and Anna are focusing on delivering food once a week to the train station to support all these people who travelled 8-9 hours by train from the border. Last Wednesday 180 delicious buns were delivered for the late evening train.

So good to know we Kiwis can give a little directly to Ukrainian refugees in desperate need of help. Will keep following up and giving.
