Help Freddie Fight Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer

$5,108 of $100,000 goal
Given by 100 generous donors since yesterday

This page is all for our loving pāpā, in hopes to extend his life. Ka tangi te manu kotahi, ka rangona te ngahere katoa.

Wellington

Freddie Wyatt is a former New Zealand Black Sox softball player who proudly represented New Zealand from 1986 to 2000. Softball has been a huge part of Freddie's life, taking him around the world and winning World Championships.

Throughout his career, he also represented Wellington, New Zealand Māori team, other local top clubs and numerous American clubs.

And has given back to the communities that have supported him.

He’s a devoted husband, loving father and friend to many.

Earlier this year Freddie was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, given an estimated survival time of six to twelve months.

Treatment options in NZ are limited, however, After further research we read about a pancreatic cancer survivor in Rotorua who took part in a trial overseas.

Freddie has been accepted into the same trial which will have the ability to extend his life. However this comes with enormous costs.

Upon successful treatment,

He would like to advocate for this to become available in NZ, ensuring cancer patients can access the care they need closer to home, minimising the financial burden.

No one should have to pay to fight for a chance at life, but sadly this is the reality for many Kiwis.

Any koha, no matter big or small, would mean the world to us. Your support will help give Freddie the opportunity to pursue this treatment and spend more precious time with the people he loves.

If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would also mean so much to our whānau.

Ngā mihi xx

Us Wyatt whānau are coming together to support and fundraise for our dad. He means the world to us, and while we may not be able to make the biggest impact, we'll do everything we can to help him through this.

Use of funds

Funds raised will help cover the cost of treatment, overseas travel for the clinical trial, required hospital insurance, upfront deposits, and other associated expenses such as living costs.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
