Help Fund Aisha's NYUAD Freshman Dream

$451 of $12,000 goal
Given by 7 generous donors in around 5 months

Kia ora! I am Corprim Patao and I am humbly reaching out to raise funds for my niece, who is attending NYU Abu Dhabi soon.

Invercargill, Southland

Hello! I am Aisha El Asmar, an incoming NYUAD student. I’m extremely proud to be joining the 3% acceptance rate of students at NYUAD, and to have received an 85% scholarship! But unfortunately, there’s still 15% to be covered which translates roughly to 12,000 USD a year.

Which would be a dream, if our financial situation was stable and we hadn’t faced unfortunate happenings throughout my life, which only contribute to making this dream all the more difficult to achieve.

Unfortunately, events had been following me around for a while; been building heavily in the past 3 years, and have come to a painful, overwhelming peak recently. It was first my father losing his job 2 years ago, then remaining jobless for the subsequent years after that, then our house burned which led to repairs and unstable start of school year. And then father passed this time last year.

I worked hard and I participated in extracurriculars. It was one particular game that I played that became a night where I would be met with foggy memories of a hospital room. Despite trying my best, unfortunate events still followed, and I was hit by a car.

Any contribution in any way shape or form, either as a donation, a share-link, or even discussing my story would mean the world of a difference, and would finally break the series of unfortunate events that have seemed to be endless for me, for so long.

With abundant gratitude,

Aisha Al Asmar.

Aisha is the daughter of our eldest sister Agnes. I wouldn't be here now where I am today if not for her. She has been a blessing to all of us and right now she needs all the help she can get for her daughter Aisha. Paying it forward for m

Use of funds

Aisha has been granted the 85% scholarship at NYUAD. However, they have to shoulder the 15% (student visas as they get to travel too, transportation, school expenses and more).
