Please help me represent New Zealand at the 2019 Youth World Champs in Arco, Italy.
Bay of Plenty
Hello,
My name is Irralee Hair, I am an 18 year old sport climber from the Bay of Plenty New Zealand.
Climbing is my passion. I have been training for the past 8years, starting off in local competitions and through hard work and dedication qualified for international competitions. In 2017 I was selected to represent New Zealand in the Oceania Climbing competition in New Caledonia and in 2018 I traveled to Sydney as part of the New Zealand team to compete in the Australian Youth Climbing Championships. Along with my international competitions I competed at a national level within New Zealand and as a result of endless hours of training and perpetually shredded fingers I am the current Junior Female Lead Climbing Champion in New Zealand and ranked 3rd in Bouldering.
Now to the reason for this Givealittle campaign - in August 2019 the World Youth Climbing Championships will be held in Arco,Italy and I have been selected to represent New Zealand in all three disciplines (Lead, Speed and Bouldering). This is huge for me and has been my goal throughout my climbing career. Due to my age this is the last opportunity I will have to compete in the World Youth Champs. This year I had the opportunity to go back to both Australia and New Caledonia but because of the financial constraints with overseas competitions I have decided to focus all my funding on Italy.
It goes without saying a trip to Italy costs a lot of money, so I am working hard to save up as much as I can. Because I train a minimum of 25 hours a weeks I had to move away from home which means I have to support myself by working as many hours as possible around my training schedule. So far I have maxed out my hours at work and have taken on some odd fundraising jobs for small businesses such as assembling baffle balls, sorting out nuts and bolts etc. I am also in the process of organizing some more fundraising opportunities.
This page has been created in the hope that my funding efforts can be shared through the power of the internet and that a few kind people will be able or willing to spare a few dollars to support me in this venture. I understand that everyone works hard for their money so any help I may receive will be greatly appreciate. So even if you are unable to donate, please share my page with others to help make my dream a reality.
Thank you for taking your time to read this, and please know I will do my very best when representing Aotearoa.
All the money raised will help pay for flights, accommodation, travel, uniform, competition costs, food and much more.
