Help support actor Matt Sunderland live in New York for six weeks while he attends a scholarship to study at the Atlantic Acting School.
Auckland
Hey there! I've been granted a scholarship through New Zealand Equity and the New Zealand Film Commission to study at the prestigious Atlantic Acting School in New York for six weeks from May 21st - June 29th 2018. Founded by U.S film and theatre icons David Mamet and William H Macy, the Atlantic has the only conservatory program in the world that offers in-depth training in thier unique and influential approach to acting: Practical Aesthetics.
The scholarship covers the costs of the tuition ($2500), plus $5000 towards expenses. However once flights and accommodation have been taken out , there's nothing left to survive in New York, one of the most expensive cities in the world...for six weeks! AT THIS STAGE THERE'S A VERY REAL CHANCE I WON'T BE ABLE TO GO BECAUSE OF THE COSTS. So, your contribution would go towards living expenses in New York City for the duration of the scholarship, covering food, transport, just basic day-to-day, getting around kinda stuff.
I have over 20 years experience as an actor in film and theatre New Zealand, including playing the award-winning role of David Gray in 'Out Of The Blue', the film about the massacre in Aramoana. I see this as an incredible opportunity to further develop my skills and build networks in the U.S. marketplace.
I really want to make this happen, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse myself in my craft in the city where so many of my acting heroes hail from. Getting the scholarship was only the first part of making this possible. Any help is deeply appreciated in turning this dream into a reality.
The money raised will be used to live in New York for six weeks, covering things like food, transport and incidental living costs.
