Whangarei Girls High School Team Sailing are fundraising to get to the Interdominion championships in Sydney, Australia

Whangarei, Northland

The Whangarei Girls High Sailing Team have recently been to the High school Team Sailing Nationals in Algies Bay. The girls train out in Parua Bay in the Whangarei harbour. Team sailing is where 3 boats race against 3 boats of another team. It is highly tactical with many race rules.

The girls placed in the top 3 for the girls division, which qualifies them for the first time to compete in the Interdominion championships for team sailing in Sydney, Australia in Sept 2023.

If you were able to contribute to their savings goal towards flights, accomodation and entry fees to get the 7 girls and a coach there it would be super appreciated.

This years team will consist of Ellie Petty, Riana Lane, Api Baker, Tessa Hayward, Aria Young, Holly Patterson and Freya Temple.

Sail Training in Parua Bay  11 July 2023

The girls have been busy training on Fridays and Saturdays out in Parua Bay, along with fitness and fundraising. Just over ten weeks now until they head off to Sydney. The full team of 7 have been confirmed now, and the girls will be looking at a fundraising dinner coming up in August.
