Help get Tui back on her feet 🐾

It's now been six weeks since Tui had her cruciate ligament surgery. Can you believe it? Time is going so quickly. Here's the latest:

Tui's fur is about 80% grown back now, which I'm sure she's appreciating since it's wintertime. Yesterday, was an important milestone; she had an x-ray to check how well her bones were healing. And the vet told us that her healing is above average. Yay!

For the most part, she's been an absolute trooper throughout this part of her recuperation -- and only suffered one extra injury trying to escape her crate...

Now that we've received good news from the vet, we can start increasing her time out of confinement and give her a few extra minutes of walking time each day to help her build up her strength. It will still probably be some months before everything's back to status quo, and we'll still need to take care, but we're feeling relieved to know that the surgery has been successful.

We hope you're all doing OK out there. Thanks again for your support!

    Hello everyone!

Just an update that Tui had her surgery last week. It went very well and while the first couple of days were pretty stressful, we're getting into a good routine.

We just got back from taking her to the vet for her one-week post-op check, and the surgeon was really impressed as she is already using her left leg to bear her weight. Apparently, it can often take a lot longer for dogs to feel confident to do this. Now all we need to do is be strict with her so that we don't undo this work! And stop her from becoming too much of a chub. since she isn't getting much exercise.

Thanks to you, we were able to cover Tui's surgery along with all of her follow-up appointments, x-rays in 6-weeks time to check progress, and regular anti-arthritis injections which help stimulate joint healing and repair.

This whole experience has been amazing and humbling for us. We're not 100% sure who all the generous souls who donated are (due to privacy settings on some donations) but we appreciate every one of you.

  • A big thank you from the three of us (and a ramp for Tui) 💜

Hello everyone, just a quick note to say thanks again for your kindness and generosity! We're in such a better position to be able to support Tui and both Sam and I have both been feeling so touched this week by your support.

Tui is most likely going to be having her surgery next week. She's been getting used to crate life and doing lots of resting and the occasional in-crate sniffari with some treats for a bit of stimulation. The rest seems to be helping her somewhat as she's putting her leg down from time to time, but we're doing what we're told and keeping her resting as much as possible.

Aside from that, our mate John put together this epic ramp, so that means she doesn't need to hop up and down our steps now when we take her outside. Great for now and excellent for post-surgery.

John happens to be one of Tui's absolutely favourite people. Like, for real, it's kind of ridiculous how much she loves him. He had to sneak onto the property and whisper while we put the ramp in situ so she wouldn't get too excited!

After some slight trepidation, she's taken to it well. Probably helps that it smells like her boyfriend.

Ok, that's all for now. Will be sure to keep you updated.

    Lots of love,

    Nikki, Sam and Tui 🐾
