15 year-old Student accepted into leadership course in Samoa (Oct. 2023) needs help fundraising

Masterton, Wellington

Kia Ora, I'm Grace McPartland. I live in Upper Hutt, Wellington. I’m a year 12 boarder at Solway College in Masterton. Since age 9, I knew I wanted to be a politician. Not just any politician, a prime minister, representing the Green Party Of Aotearoa. I've had not only a love, but also a worry for the environment from a young age.

I created an enviro-group, was nominated year 11 rep on the Student council, and also voted in as Solway College Student rep on the Board of Trustees - these are roles I still have. I spoke at the race unity awards in Wellington, promoting racial unity in Aotearoa. Growing up I was dismissed of my Maori blood and culture due to my ‘pale’ skin, which has made me grow a drive for racial unity and justice. I also won awards such as; The Ruamahanga trust Conservation award for environmental leadership, The Debating shield for Solway College top debater and more. I enjoy public speaking and also speak Japanese.

I was accepted into the Pacific Student Leaders Programme in Samoa. Throughout my life I have grown confidence and passion for what I love, however I feel these things can never stop growing and that this course is the perfect opportunity for me to develop my leadership, communication, confidence, passion, and relationships with the environment, culture and people. With politics in sight of my future, this programme will be a big step towards my goals. I can’t attend this course without help to raise the required funds. All help is appreciated.
