Supporting Vitagreens in gaining full food safety verification and compliance to become a trusted, locally grown microgreens supplier.
Kumeu, Auckland
Hey everyone,
My name is Trent, and I’m building Vitagreens — a small microgreens startup based in West Auckland, New Zealand. What started as growing fresh, nutrient-dense greens for family and friends has grown into a bigger mission: supplying our local community with clean, vibrant, locally grown microgreens all year round.
Microgreens may be small, but they’re powerful — packed with nutrients and harvested fresh within 7–14 days. I grow using 100% coco coir and focus heavily on food safety, sustainability, and quality from seed to harvest.
The biggest challenge is gaining full verification and compliance so we can expand into cafés, chefs, and markets across Auckland. Meeting National Programme 1 requirements properly means upgrading systems, improving documentation, investing in better equipment, and ensuring everything meets food safety standards at a professional level.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Verification and compliance costs
• Upgrading food safety systems and documentation
• Improving growing infrastructure and shelving
• Purchasing additional trays and equipment
• Strengthening packaging and branding
I want Vitagreens to be more than just a small grow setup — I want it to be a fully compliant, trusted local supplier that cafés and families can rely on with confidence.
Every contribution helps move Vitagreens closer to becoming a verified, trusted local supplier.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
Funds will go toward verification and compliance costs, food safety system upgrades, improved growing equipment and shelving, and essential infrastructure needed to meet National Programme 1 standards.
Adjusting the goal 7 March 2026
I’ve decided to reduce the fundraising goal for this page from $1,500 to $1,000. After reviewing the setup costs more carefully, I realised that reaching $1,000 would still allow me to cover the key things needed to move Vitagreens forward.
This includes supplies, trays, seeds and some of the compliance requirements needed to safely produce and sell microgreens locally.
I wanted to make the goal more realistic and achievable while still helping get the project properly set up. Thank you to everyone who has supported the page so far — it genuinely means a lot and helps bring Vitagreens closer to getting established.
