Help Gucci Get the Dental Care She Desperately Needs!

  • Gucci Is almost halfway there!

Gucci, our sweet and sassy sphynx cat, has been fighting bravely through her illness, and we’re now halfway to our $4000 goal for her essential surgery! We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who’s donated so far – your support means the world. 💖

Right now, we’re $569 away from reaching the amount needed for the first stage of her surgery, and we could really use your help to keep the momentum going.

Since starting new medication, Gucci has been more playful and active than ever. Since her bout of Cat flu, Gucci has returned to a healthy weight, is eating well, and best of all – she’s breathing easier with no wheezing or runny nose. Her little sneezes still make an appearance, but overall she’s much brighter and happier.

With the cooler weather rolling in, Gucci has been loving the warmth – especially in her ridiculously cute handmade jumpers made from the sleeves of my old sweatshirts. She looks beyond adorable and knows it too! 😻

This surgery is still crucial for her long-term health, and every donation – no matter the size – gets us one step closer to giving her the care she needs. If you’re able to contribute or even just share her story, it truly helps more than you know.

Thank you for being part of Gucci’s journey. She may not have fur, but she has plenty of love to give! 🐾💕

  • Update on Gucci

      1 April 2025

    Hey everyone,

I’m sorry for the delay in updates—it’s been a challenging few weeks. I came down with a throat infection, had to travel for work, and on top of that, poor Gucci caught the flu. It was heartbreaking to see her struggling week after week, and there were plenty of tears and late nights.

But I’m happy to share some good news—Gucci is finally in better spirits! She’s been spending the week in Scarborough, soaking up the sunshine while I’m away working on the coast. I miss her dearly, but we’ll be reunited very soon.

Thank you all so much for your kindness and support. It truly means the world. Let’s keep the love going—please share and donate if you can!

    Much love ❤️ ❤️‍🩹

  • Gucci goes to the vet.

Unfortunately, we had another unexpected vet trip today—our fifth in five weeks. This journey has been incredibly tough and expensive.

Today was especially difficult. Seeing Gucci unwell after last week’s hopeful news broke me. We had just stopped antibiotics and moved to maintenance meds, but last night, she stopped eating. So, I rushed her to our trusted team at Harwood Road, fearing I might not walk out with her.

Thankfully, the vet believes it’s another painful mouth flare-up. She received pain relief, a steroid injection, and we’ve started long-term oral steroids. We’re hoping this keeps things stable until we can get her teeth removed and through recovery.

My priority is raising funds for her surgery. Every spare dollar goes to vet bills, and it’s financially exhausting.

I also want to share something personal. A well-meaning but thoughtless comment from a non-practicing vet nurse hurt me deeply. If you see someone struggling with pet care costs, please be mindful. Suggesting they “just rehome” their pet can feel like a slap in the face. Many of us are fully committed to our pets. If rehoming were ever an option, it would be a carefully made decision—not influenced by a stranger.

Right now, my focus is getting Gucci healthy. Please continue to share and donate to Gucci’s GiveALittle—every bit helps.

Thank you all for your kindness and support. It means the world.

    Wow! We've reached over $700—amazing!

A huge thank you to everyone for your kindness and generosity. Every donation brings us closer to the big day, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Gucci is truly embracing life—curled up in bed with mum after enjoying her soft-cooked chicken, gazing at the world with her signature mischievous (almost villainous!) stare. She’s making the most of every moment.

We had what we hope will be our last vet visit for a while, and Gucci got the all-clear to finish her antibiotics after her latest gum flare-up. She’s now on a maintenance dose of Gabapentin for pain relief and, most importantly, she’s feeling happy and comfortable.

Thank you all for your continued love and support—Gucci is one lucky (and very loved) kitty!

It's been 3 weeks of vet checks antibiotics, pain relief and a diet change. Fingers are crossed that she is feeling better when she's finished up. It's still a long journey and next will be determining if we continue with her Metacam or try a different anti-inflammatory in the short term.

Thank you everyone again for your donations and sharing Gucci's page ❤️‍🩹💗

Gucci is a sleepy kitty who enjoys snoozing as close as she can get, often this means waking up to find her snuggled into my armpit first thing in the morning.
