Getting Harry back on his feet
Taranaki
Harry was born from a stray mum who a friend took in, he was born around the time we lost a cat and a dog in very tragic circumstances, fast forward to December and we took him in and he was so tiny and he quickly established himself as “the boss” he grew so big so fast and is a huge personality in our home, he especially healed the heart of our 15 year old daughter
In the night of July 5th he had his dinner as normal but we didn’t see him on Sunday the 6th nor the days following, we put out flyers that he was missing all over social media, we even offered a reward for his return but we lost hope
This morning July 15th at 5am he arrived home very hungry and very wobbly in his back legs, The vets xrayed him and sadly 2 broken back legs, one of them very badly broken , both needing plates and pins to repair, amputation for the worst one not best practice as it will hinder healing on his other broken leg, no sign of any other trauma so not hit by a car but the vet thinks maybe a crushing accident, Euthanasia not an option as Harry is happy and purring and obviously has a will to live ❤️ we will have him repaired no matter what as he’s worth it but the estimate from the vet at $5k is a hard pill to swallow, we don’t have pet insurance as the cost of that for every waif and stray we bring in is out of control as well
Good friends with Harry's owner, Kylee
Vet bill medication and rehabilitation.
Stitches 30 July 2025
Stitches all gone, he can have a bit of cone off time now 🙌 still on crate rest and still on pain meds but he’s looking great 🤗 bill wasn’t a hit to the face this time considering it includes a $20 toy that he apparently needed 😂 next appointment is in 4 weeks for follow up X-rays 🩻
