Help Heather Easterbrook get to the World Masters Surfing Champs in El Salvador - we don't receive any funding for this expensive trip
Whangarei, Northland
Kia ora,
I'm Heather Easterbrook.
You might know me from Northland's surfing or hockey communities.
I'm stoked to have a chance to be one of four New Zealand representatives at the International Surfing Association World Masters Surf Champs in El Salvador beginning October 18.
My category is Masters 40+ Women... and I am the only Kiwi woman in the squad.
I have given close to thirty years of my life to surfing, I adore it, and I like to think I have given lots back to the Northland surfing community... but getting to El Salvador is rather expensive and sadly I don't have funding.
I am reaching into my own pocket to pay for this trip and it's quite costly.
I am reaching out to ask if you might donate whatever you can spare to help make this mission less expensive.
I promise I will give it 110% and perform amazingly for my country.
Thank you so much for any and all donations.
With love from Heather.
Your generous donations will go towards:
- Entry fees (these fees include the cost of security in El Sunzal)
- Several days competing against some of the best women in the world
- Air fares to El Salvador and back
- Food
- Accommodation
Appreciation update 2 February 2025
Thanks so much for supporting my travels to represent New Zealand at the World Masters Surfing event in El Salvador in October last year. Although I feel my surfing performance wasn't my best, the experience was amazing and I waved the Kiwi flags with pride.
Since returning I have had a knee surgery which kept me unable to surf for 3 months. My first surf back was this week and it felt so wonderful to be back in the ocean doing what I love.
Muchas, muchas gracias and all the best for this year ahead.
Heather
Thanks so much Chick. Some of those tough mornings when the motivation is low I think to myself "Chick will be at the gym" & get myself going. Thanks for being inspiring.
Thanks so much Miss Finlayson he he he. I guess being a pro surfer was on that list with firefighter for what I want to do when I grow up....
Thanks so much team! It's going to be such a rewarding experience, as you well know about travelling anywhere.
Thanks Di, you are one of my first surfing heros and have always been an example of getting the most out of life.
Thanks heaps! Usually I sit anywhere I the line up that you are because you're a wave magnet. I'll channel some Gray's wisdom for the best spot...
