We need your help to replace our van that delivers medical equipment to patients at home.
Lower Hutt, Wellington
As part of our care for people with terminal or life limiting illnesses Te Omanga Hospice provides in home physical support to patients with specialist medical equipment.
We provide items like hospital beds, commodes, walkers and wheelchairs. It makes life easier for the families and helps support the dignity of the patient while being cared for at home.
To deliver these items the hospice has a small van that has done a lot of hard yards and is rusty in places. We aren’t sure if it will pass it’s next warrant of fitness.
We’d like to replace the van with a new E.V van which will have the government EV subsidy applied to it and a new van will give us an 8 year battery warranty and 3 year factory warranty.
Over the lifetime of the new Van it would make approximately 11,000 visits to people needing equipment in the community. It is a critical part of our ability to provide our care to the community and moving to an E.V will reduce fuel costs which can be put back into patient care while helping the hospice be more sustainable.
We've already secured some funding to replace the Van through donations and grants but we need help with the remaining $4,500.
Te Omanga Hospice provides free palliative care to people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses in the Hutt Valley.
Our services are provided through an interdisciplinary team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists and specially trained volunteers.
We'll use the funds to purchase a new E.V van that will reduce fuel costs which can be used to support patients. The new van will make approximately 11,000 trips to support patients in our community over it's lifetime.
Now Fully Funded! 11 October 2021
Through and combination of kind donations and grants we have been able to secure enough funding for the new van! We'll update everyone with an image once we have it at the hospice.
