Hudson has a funnel chest which is a congenital issue and urgently needs pectus excavalum surgery
Wellington
When it rains it pours 🙈
Our baby boy kitten Hudson is in need of a very serious surgery and urgent help 😢
Hudson has a congenital issue. His heart is displaced because of his affected chest, there's a bend in his trachea and his lungs are becoming more and more compressed. It's a "congenital defect where the caudal ribs and sternum do not grow properly resulting in a concavity starting around the 3rd to 5th rib and continuing to the xiphoid process."
Hudson came from our "Mumma Cat Vacation Stay" where his Mumma Stripes had her babies with us and was returned after she recovered from surgery.
He needs pectus excavalum surgery URGENTLY. We don't even know where to get this done yet but our vet is unable - it may likely be Massey University which means it will end up costing an arm and a leg 😭 We are looking into this asap.
Hudson is a friendly and beautiful boy with a zest of life and with surgery providing a good and permanent outcome we want to push for this sweet boy and have him become a temporary (hopefully) RKR foster cat.
We need your help! We don't know the costs but we know it's going to be expensive, likely a few thousand especially if done by Massey or even PetVet.
Hudson's surgery and recovery.
Rest in Love 💕 27 December 2022
We are absolutely devastated. We are shattered having 3 unexpected deaths within 5 weeks, I don't know how much more grief I can take 💔
Hudson passed away after a successful surgery. The vet did an incredible job and it was no fault of their own. Once "fixed" Hudson's lungs expanded too much causing his lungs to perforate, the inner stitches ripped open and he passed away shortly after surgery.
He just wanted to breathe 💔 We did absolutely everything for him that we could, life is just so unfair. Congenital diseases are all new to me and the more we learn the more we lose pieces of our hearts.
Rescue is never easy 😔 Rest in love Hudson. We can't wait to bring you back home where you belong.
Even though the surgery bill is still to be paid we are getting Hudson cremated as his Foster needs him home. Any further donations will go towards this, thank you all.
