James Dimock has wrapped up his U19 World Rowing Championships campaign in Canada.

James and his rowing partner, Marley King Smith, had a great start to their campaign - winning their Men's Double Sculls heat to progress straight through to the semifinal.

Illness struck Marley prior to the semifinal, resulting in compromised fitness. The boys finished in fourth place, only 0.41s behind Australia, missing out on the A Final.

James and Marley beat Spain, Switzerland, USA, Taiwan, China and Lithuania in their heat and semifinal.

The B Final saw James rowing with Jimmy Middleditch, after Marley King Smith withdrew due to illness. James and Jimmy finished the B Final in sixth place.

James is thankful for this incredible experience and extends heartfelt thanks to you for your support.

🌟 **Nearly There! Give-a-Little Goal in Sight! 🌟**

A massive thank you to everyone who has generously donated towards James's (17yrs) dream of representing NZ at the Junior World Rowing Championships. James is immensely grateful and humbled by the overwhelming support from all our friends, family, and supporters.

    🚣‍♂️ **Training Update:**

James is dedicated to his training, starting each day at 5 am to row approximately 20 km in a single boat. He loves mixing it up by rowing with the St George’s Club boys too.

    📚 **Academics:**

Balancing his athletic and academic goals, James continues his studies at home, working towards NCEA Level 3 with a goal of achieving ‘Excellence’ in all subjects. Online learning offers him the flexibility to maintain his intense training schedule.

    🏋️ **Afternoon Routine:**

Afternoons are spent strengthening his body with weight training at the gym.

James's move to Lake Karapiro is just around the corner, where he’ll commence intensive training with NZ Rowing.

    Thanks again for your support!

Thank you to my donors. I’m overwhelmed by your generous support and encouraging comments on my give-a-little page. In one week we have raised half the required funds for me to represent NZ at the Junior World Championships in Canada in August.

This week Rowing NZ coach has lent me a single boat to train in. I’m training 6 days a week, focusing on strength and technique.

Thank you again for your support and please share this page with others who may also be interested in supporting me to represent our country.

    ⁃ From James Dimock (17yrs)
