Help Javi and Coni Recover from a Devastating Accident

Hi everyone, we’re Javi and Coni, an overseas couple who recently got married and came to New Zealand for our honeymoon on a working holiday visa. Our dream was to work for a while and then explore this beautiful country. We even rented a campervan for our adventures!

Tragically, our journey took a devastating turn. While driving downhill on a slippery and narrow road, we lost control of the vehicle. We narrowly avoided going over a cliff but ended up hitting the hill, causing the campervan to roll onto its side. Javi broke his hand and required surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was covered by ACC, and he is now recovering, but he won't be able to work for at least two months.

We hired standard insurance, but unfortunately, it had some exclusions and doesn’t cover us, leaving us with a bill of $31,000 NZD in repair costs for the campervan, which we simply cannot afford. With only one of us working for minimum wage, our living costs have drained all our savings and emergency funds.

We wouldn’t usually ask for help in this way, but we are out of options. We are kind-hearted people who have always enjoyed helping others, and now we are hoping for some assistance to get through this challenging time.
