To help support everday living for Joel & Nikki while Joel recovers from a severe stroke
Ohope, Bay Of Plenty
On Monday 13 October, Joely had a stroke whilst out doing what he loves - surfing. Thankfully members of the public pulled him from the water and saved Joely from near drowning. Emergency services then took him to Lismore Base Hospital. After spending a night in ICU, he was emergency helicoptered to Gold Coast Hospital due to swelling on his brain and had to have two life saving surgeries leaving him in a coma on life support for six days. Scans have now revealed Joely has had a very severe stroke. The road to recovery will be long - possibly six months in hospital and rehab. It has been a tumultuous time for Joely, Nikki and our whanau. Nikki has been incredibly strong and right by his side the whole time along with whanau and close friends. The world as Joely and Nikki knew it, has been turned upside down and they now need all our help to ease the financial burden that comes with events like this. We all know that Joely and Nikki are the most kind and caring people you can meet and are there for everyone and anyone when help is needed. It's now our turn to do the same for them. It took alot of convincing Nikki to allow this page to happen, so no matter how big or small you can donate, every dollar is so very appreciated and will go a long way to help these beautiful people navigate the journey ahead of them.
Nikki is my sister and Joel is my brother in law
The money will be spent on every day costs of living as Joel recovers from a severe stroke and also to for unfunded specialist and rehabilitation costs once he gets out of hospital.
