Josh is in an induced coma in critical condition and needs support to recover from major injuries after a car accident. Please help!
Nelson / Tasman
Josh is currently in an induced coma in critical condition in hospital after a major car accident. He has sustained major crush injuries with bones and organs affected and will need multiple surgeries and ongoing specialist medical care to get through this. Josh and his family will need to relocate to Christchurch for the surgeries needed and the months of rehabilitation ahead.
Those who know Josh know he is such an adventurous and fun-loving guy, who loves hunting and the outdoors. He is a promising competitive motocross rider and junior South Island champion. We do not know if he will be able to ride again.
Josh also works hard in the family business, helping on the farm, orchard and beekeeping, alongside his school work and part-time jobs. Because of the critical nature of his injuries, his parents will need to leave their orchard at harvest time, putting huge financial stress on their entire family. It is not known when they will be able to return.
This Christmas will be spent in hospital by Josh's beside, with an uncertain future. Please help Josh and his family to get through this. Please give generously. We appreciate this is an expensive time of year, but Josh needs your help. Every dollar counts.
Joshua is my awesome cousin
To help Josh's family to travel to Christchurch to be able to be by his side for the uncertain time of his recovery and months of rehabilitation.
Update 4: Out of ICU one step closer to home.... 8 March 2020
Josh is one resilient, incredible human!
He has finally been able to leave ICU and now is doing his best to heal his grafts and strengthen his body after all he has been through. He has been brave through multiple surgeries for muscle and skin grafts and continues to have these dressed and attended to but now is able to sit up for periods of time. He is also able to try and weight bear on his injured pelvis.
He is now able to eat and finally had his nasogastric tube removed. All of these forward steps are so encouraging.
Josh has a long road of rehabilitation and strengthening and he is determined to get back on his bike!
We are all so grateful for your continued support to help him overcome his injuries and rebuild a healthy and capable body.
Thank you for your ongoing care and support for Josh on his journey to recovery and to meet his goals for his future. Thank you!
