Josh is one resilient, incredible human!

He has finally been able to leave ICU and now is doing his best to heal his grafts and strengthen his body after all he has been through. He has been brave through multiple surgeries for muscle and skin grafts and continues to have these dressed and attended to but now is able to sit up for periods of time. He is also able to try and weight bear on his injured pelvis.

He is now able to eat and finally had his nasogastric tube removed. All of these forward steps are so encouraging.

Josh has a long road of rehabilitation and strengthening and he is determined to get back on his bike!

We are all so grateful for your continued support to help him overcome his injuries and rebuild a healthy and capable body.

Thank you for your ongoing care and support for Josh on his journey to recovery and to meet his goals for his future. Thank you!

Josh continues on his Journey in ICU.

On Tuesday of this week, Josh underwent a never been done before surgery to reconstruct and stabilise his crushed pelvis, with muscle and skin grafting to save his most damaged leg.

He continues to be in a deeply sedated state due to the pain from his injuries and surgeries; but when his pain levels and medications allow, he is now able to communicate to his family at the bedside.

It continues to be an incredibly challenging time for Josh and his family.

They look toward future reconstructive abdominal, muscle and skin surgeries ahead, on this long journey to recovery.

Thank you for your continued support, your messages and kindness are a huge source of hope and strength for Josh and his family to draw upon. Thank you!

      Wow Josh,

You are true to your character.

Working so hard, making each day another milestone in your recovery.

Sir Edmund Hilary when asked how he did he conquer Everest replied " one step at a time".

Develop the strength you need for tomorrow. One step, one day at a time.

Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination.

Know with every cell in your body how many are with you encouraging and believing in your recovery.

You have your mountain, your Everest. Be strong. Stay brave.

Because one day you too will experience the thrill of conquest.

      Aroha

  • Update #2

      3 January 2020

Thank you for your ongoing support for Josh and his family

Josh remains in a critical condition and remains in an induced Coma 13 days after his accident.

He has undergone two further surgeries, to drain infected muscle and tissue that has been injured in the accident, after developing high fevers. The surgeries needed, and the infection caused his condition to destabilise.

He continues to wait to be stabilised enough to undergo his pelvic reconstruction procedure which will likely be undertaken in 3 separate procedures.

His parents remain in ICU by his side.

Thank you for continuing to surround Josh and his family with your support and thoughts as they continue on this rollercoaster.

The support of everyone, especially through the give a little page, has been a great source of hope and comfort at this difficult time; as his family continue to focus on Josh's recovery and future rehabilitation.

    Thank you again!

Dear Eamon, Wendy, Kim and Sam.

Pat and I continue to think of Josh and each of you constantly.

As you go into a new week ahead know that we are calling on the angels to sing a soothing lullaby to your cherished Josh and an angels kiss to dry the tears you shed for him.

      Hold fast.

There a thousand or more of us that are keeping you in our hearts.

There are a thousand or more hearts who beat hope.

      Hope is Love.

      And Love Heals.

      Arohanui

      Ginny.

  • Thank you, and an update on Josh’s condition

      27 December 2019

Thank you so much for everyone’s outpouring of support. It’s truly given us hope at this incredibly difficult time.

Josh remains critical and has got through 3 surgeries but needs to stabilise enough for his 12 hour life saving reconstructive surgery. He remains in an induced coma until he is strong enough for this.

Please continue to keep Josh in your thoughts and thank you again for your ongoing support.
