🙏 Help Jucar Receive Urgent Surgery & Medical Care in New Zealand 🇳🇿

Hi everyone,

My name is Kris, and I’m writing on behalf of my partner Jucar “Jay” , a hardworking Filipino migrant who came to New Zealand with dreams of building a better life. Jucar works as a casual employee at McDonald’s and is currently on a partnership visa. Together, we’ve been working toward a future — hoping to build a life and start a family here.

But recently, everything changed.

Over the past years, Jucar began experiencing numbness in his hands and feet due to a condition called glove and stocking peripheral neuropathy. Because of the numbness, a simple corn on his right great toe went unnoticed and eventually developed into a serious wound.

Last week, Jucar was rushed to Whangārei Hospital with high fever and chills. He was diagnosed with sepsis and osteomyelitis — a severe bone infection.

Doctors have urgently recommended an amputation to stop the infection from spreading further and becoming life-threatening. They are also conducting neurological testing to understand the root cause of his nerve issues.

Because Jucar is on a partnership visa, he is not covered by the New Zealand public healthcare system. Unfortunately, when his visa got approved it was already under 2years in which made him not eligible for a free healthcare that we just found out as we were advice by the ward manager. All the hospital expenses and surgery must be paid out-of-pocket.
