Help Kalara get to Taputapuatea!
Auckland
Kia ora, My daughter is in her competition Kapa haka group at Rangeveiw Intermediate, she has been selected as one of the students to go to Taputapuatea Festival in Rarotonga in December 2025.
As much as id like to just pay the costs, i cant so this is to ask for help from the collective to get her there.
Taputapuātea Festival is a Polynesian cultural exchange event that celebrates the epic of Polynesian migration. This is a prestigious cultural event that brings together people from across the Pacific to celebrate and share their heritage through performance, language, Food and the arts.
This trip is important to Kalara as a young Maori Kotiro connecting to her roots and learning the her place, also connecting to the ways of her ancestors and learning about other pasific cultures that all influenced each other. Its a way for her to learn traditional and cultural ways of her ancestors and to share those ways with other pasific cultures.
We need to raise costs for accomodation, transport, passport, food etc, its been estimated at around $3030, not including passport cost. We have deadlines right up until the trip and the first is coming up soon,
$700 by June 5th 2025.
Whatever you can donate is helpful and very much appreciated
Kalara is my 11Yr old daughter.
Some will be used to purchase her passport, the rest will be sent to the school and used toward Kalaras fees for Accomadation, flights, food, transport, etc while in rarotonga. And if any is left she will take it as spending money in Rarotonga.
