Help Karen beat cancer
Hoping to Raise funds for our beautiful mum to help her with cancer treatments.

Our darling mum Karen, Nana to 5 grandchildren, and dear friend to many in our Waiheke community, was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in November 2020.
At first Karen’s initial diagnosis was that her cancer was operable and curable, but after further MRI and PET scans we were given shattering news that the cancer had spread to her liver. It is a rare and aggressive type of cancer, and so at this stage, the surgeons aren’t going to operate. This is a huge and devastating shock for us.
Along with chemotherapy Karen is also having ongoing alternative natural treatments – such as IV vitamin C, mistletoe injections, and acupuncture to name a few.
We are hoping to raise money towards her treatments and travel to and from the hospital, as we live on Waiheke Island.
Our darling Mum is a strong woman, who's going to give everything she has to beat this cancer. Her positivity and kind-heart has always supported others, and now it’s her turn to get that support back.

Use of funds
Funds raised will go towards alternative cancer treatments, unfunded chemotherapy if it becomes an option. And regular travel to hospital for her and her family.

Update for 2022 13 March 2022
Thought I’d write an update since the page is closing in 19 days.
Karen has been having on going chemotherapy for over a year now, (she’s had 25 rounds so far!) along with her alternative treatments. The routine scans have been showing that the cancer is stable and there is no new tumour growth. This is good news!
To continue the combination of treatments is quite expensive but she is determined not to give up. The $8,300 raised over the past 11 months by all of the generous donors has been used for treatments such as IV vitamin C over that time.
Hoping by updating her page we can raise some more funds for her treatments before the page closes.
