Help Karen Represent New Zealand at the 2026 IMWA World Masters Weightlifting Championships
Greenhills, Southland Region
Hi, I'm Karen Ladbrook, and I've been given the incredible opportunity to represent New Zealand at the IMWA World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Athens, Greece, September 2026.
I'm the only athlete selected from the Southland/Otago region.
Being selected to wear the black singlet and compete on the world stage is an honour and I'm determined to step onto that platform with pride and give it everything I have.
What many people don't realise is that Masters weightlifters in New Zealand receive little to no funding. Every aspect of competing internationally is self-funded. That means athletes cover the costs of training, travel, accommodation, competition fees, and even our New Zealand team uniforms.
Travelling halfway around the world to compete is an incredible opportunity, but it also comes with financial challenges. I'm raising funds to help offset some of the costs of preparing for and competing at the World Championships, allowing me to focus on performing at my very best.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps me on my journey to standing on the competition platform in Athens and proudly representing New Zealand. If you're unable to donate, sharing this page with your friends, family, and community would mean just as much.
Thank you for believing in me and for supporting a Kiwi athlete chasing a dream. Your encouragement and generosity mean more than words can express.
