Help keep social media community news page Talk on the Taieri going so people remain informed of what is happening in the Taieri community.
Otago
Hi everyone!
Telling people’s stories has been my passion for some 30 years. As a qualified journalist, I decided to start a voluntary community news social media page called Talk on the Taieri to help keep the local community informed.
I have thoroughly enjoyed doing Talk on the Taieri as a hobby, especially when I had the security of a full-time job.
Sadly, I lost my job earlier this year due to being laid off as a result of Covid-19. I have finally managed to secure some casual work.
However, with Talk on the Taieri now growing to nearly 6000 subscribers, there is more expectation to write stories and promote more things. But, it takes time to do the research, conduct face-to-face and phone interviews, write stories, take photographs, create video stories and some cost to travel from A to B.
So, I have reluctantly decided to launch a Give A Little Page in the hope of helping raise some funds to keep the page going.
In mid-2021 Talk on the Taieri will celebrate the awesome milestone of 5 years providing news to its subscribers, both locally and overseas.
Given the season of giving, I hope you might find it in your heart to give what you can to help keep Talk on the Taieri going for a little longer yet. Hoping for a better 2021 for everyone!
Money donated will help cover ongoing expenses, including processing photos and generating video stories, running a vehicle to get to and from places, internet and phone use.
