Green Island Rugby Club needs your support to replace our 40 year old training lights to keep our players safe.
Green Island, Dunedin
The Green Island Rugby Football Club is calling on the community to help us fund new training field lights at Miller Park — one of Dunedin’s busiest rugby hubs.
More than 550 players, including over 300 junior members, train at the park after dark. But the current lights, which are more than 40 years old, no longer provide safe visibility.
Parts of the field are left in near darkness, leading to collisions, short-term injuries, and growing safety concerns for players of all ages. In fact, 10 scheduled home games this season had to be shifted to opposition grounds because the field was deemed unplayable at night. That not only hurt our teams but also resulted in a loss of vital revenue from clubrooms and post-match events.
To ensure safe training and protect the future of rugby at Miller Park, the lights must be replaced this summer ahead of next season.
With your support, we can brighten the field, keep our players safe, and make sure rugby stays strong in our community.
Money raised through this "Givealittle" campaign will contribute towards the $150,000 required to fully upgrade our training field lights.
Every donation brings us closer to a brighter, safer future for all our players.
