Raising funds for Tearikis (Kiki) Cancer Journey
Auckland
Early this year in January 2024 Teariki (Kiki), suffered a seizure which changed his life and his foreseeable future. MRI and CT scans taken within hours of being admitted to Auckland Hospital revealed a tumor on his brain, located on the "language centre". 4 months later, Kiki underwent brain surgery. Unfortunately the entire tumor could not be removed and upon the pathology results has been diagnosed with malignant, Stage 4 cancer. The next step is adjuvant treatment with both chemotherapy and radiation.
He has been told that the cancer is treatable, but not curable. Kiki is exploring alternative options overseas for treatment and/or medication.
In the meantime, and in the near future it is unknown when or if Kiki may be able to return to work and it has been an incredibly tough time for him and his family.
He and his partner Renee have 2 beautiful young girls, Teiana - 6 years and Talei - 21 months old.
Kiki is usually a fit and active person, who has dedicated his life to family, friends and helping his community. As a qualified Sports Exercise and Athletic Performance Coach, he has helped many teams and individual athletes with his services and expertise.
We hope to see him return to his line of work and would greatly appreciate and support to him and his young family as they navigate their way through this difficult journey.
Kiki and his loving family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for what support comes their way.♥️
Kiki's cousin.
This money will go towards Kiki's general living costs & day to day expenses as he and his family have suffered his loss of income. This will also be used for Vorasidenib (pills/capsules) which is medication that is not funded in NZ.
Thank You/Update 15 September 2024
Kia Orana family and friends,
I just wanted to say thank you all for your support on this journey for my family and I. Your messages, prayers, well wishes and donations has helped us a lot through this time. We are forever grateful for your love and support ❤️
UPDATE:
It is coming up to 5 months since my diagnosis. During that time I have gone through 10 weeks of Chemotherapy and 6 weeks of Radiotherapy. I am blessed to say that I had minor side effects through my treatment and I’ve remained relatively well and healthy.
I head into a another course of chemotherapy soon for 6 months - a longer duration but less intense.
That will be my last round of standard treatment and hopefully any treatment at all for a long time. My oncologist has said there are more treatments available if need be for future, but praying that wouldn’t be the case for a very long time or at all🤞🏼🙏🏼
Ongoing scans forever will done to make sure everything is ok and kept at bay.
But for now - I am in well, spirits are high and we are staying positive.
Meitaki Ranuinui ❤️
