Please help Kiwi dancer Samara train professionally in London at Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance!
Auckland
SAMARA GREIG (17)
I’m heading to London for pre-professional ballet training at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in January! I’m so excited to have been offered one of just 50 places at Rambert from worldwide auditions. Rambert School and company has been at the cutting edge of ballet and contemporary dance for 100 years. Students graduate with a Foundation Degree, and the skills to audition for classical and contemporary dance companies, many going on to have significant careers worldwide. Rambert has always been my dream goal and it's so amazing to have achieved this!
I am incredibly passionate about dance, with performance being my greatest love. Being on stage and using my craft to engage an audience emotionally and tell a story is such a privilege and an uplifting experience.
I trained at Mt Eden Ballet Academy from the age of three, and I was recently awarded Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal, and also placed 1st in NZ for Modern Dance at the National Young Performer Awards last month.
My tuition fees are very expensive, as are flights to the UK and accommodation and living costs in London. With another $20,000 due, your donation will be sincerely appreciated and will make such a difference enabling me to take up this opportunity, so that I can represent NZ as a dancer in London, and then in the future bring my skills home to share with younger generations.
Thank you!

THANK YOU FROM SAMARA 15 March 2024
Huge thanks to everyone who helped me get to Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London! I am so, so grateful to everyone who supported me.
I have now completed my first half term and I absolutely LOVE Rambert School and London! I am learning so much from so many incredible teachers and I love the 50/50 mix of ballet and contemporary, which is really helping me to develop into a more diverse dancer. I am learning new contemporary techniques and styles, which is really motivating and we are also focusing on strengthening our improvisation and choreographic skills. At the moment we are also working hard for our upcoming ballet solo assessment. We are so lucky to have live musicians accompany all our classes too!
Being in London has given me such an incredible insight into the dance world here and the many opportunities and directions to strive towards in the future. There is such a vibrant dance and cultural environment here.
As a full time ballet student we receive significant theatre discounts so I have been able to attend some wonderful shows such as New York City Ballet and Studio Wayne McGregor's Universe at Sadler's Wells, which is so inspiring! Here is a snap of me taken at the top of the National Museum of Scotland where I was invited to do a shoot with dance photographer, Julia Forsyth.
Thank you so much again for helping fund me to make it here, I really hope to graduate and do well, it's my dream come true being here!
Thank you,
Samara X
